I thought I would start watching films based on my recommendations from Netflix. Tonight's viewing was The Ritual 2017.
(Based on the novel by Adam Neville) starring Rafe Spall, Arsher Ali, Robert James-collier and directed by David Bruckner.
Don't go into the woods is a lesson most of us have learned from watching horror films, except a group of British hikers who clearly haven't received the memo.
A group of college friends reunite to take a hiking trip in Sweden to remember a mutual friend who passed away.
One of the friends has an accident and ends up twisting his knee, so the friends decide to take a shortcut into the woods.
Delirium and psychosis soon become apparent and they feel they are being stalked by a mysterious creature.
One by one they meet their maker till a soul survivor is revealed.
I haven't used the characters names as I still want it to be slightly spoiler free.
I thought it was a fantastic horror, with characters that you find relatable, the scares felt real and the eerie music mirrored this. I definitely felt that the moral of this story is to try and face your fears, something that we all struggle with. I know I do!
If you watch one Netflix movie tonight I definitely recommend this one.
If you do watch it let me know your thoughts.
