Fear the Legend

Films based on urban legends have been around for years, the fear will always be is it real or fake?
Such as The slender Man.

The stories have to come from somewhere, right?
For me urban legend horror movies have that extra fear factor, I think it's fear of the unknown.

With that being said I stumbled upon a movie based on South African folklore, which drew me in and I love foreign horror films, purely because they feel scarier for me, they have a really gritty feel plus the language barrier can be terrifying, as you don't understand and it's fear of the unknown again.

I found the trailer for said movie and settled myself in for 2 and a half minutes. All of which kept me wanting more.

The film in question is 8: A South African Horror Story written and directed by Harold Hölscher, his directorial debut.

The main plot of the movie is a demon child has a insatiable appetite and the only thing that suppresses it is human souls.
8: A South African Horror Story will premiere at Montréals Fantasia International Film Event on the 20th July this year.
