So I thought I would do something slightly different, it's nearly Halloween and I thought I would explain what horror means to me.
I have always felt slightly odd, against the mold if you will.
My first ever horror I watched was Fright Night, I was 8 at the time and I had never seen anything like this. I used to watch goosebumps and tales of the crypt keeper but this started my love of horror. At the time I was just excited by watching something I shouldn't.
When I began my teenage years that was a really tough time, as I wasn't really understood at school, always bullied but horror was an outlet for me, an escape from the real world.
Horror for me is Disney for some people, it's a chance for me to escape, go on a bit of a thrill ride. I also find the horror community one of the friendliest places to be, its a chance to be us, as we can't always bring horror into our day to day lives with work, home life etc.
If you are on Instagram Claires_crafty_corner_ is amazing, she has inspired me to no end with Halloween decorations.
I particularly related to the girls who were known as the "weirdo's" although not technically a horror but The craft really spoke to me. I felt like I wasn't alone.
Horror brings people together as you can feel vulnerable but having a moment on the sofa hiding under a blanket. That is romance to me.
I also find horrors can be more romantic than romantic films.
One example is Bram Stoker's Dracula, Gary Oldmans portrayal of Dracula is outstanding, he exudes sexiness and the love he shows for mona shows no bounds.
Horror is a huge part of my life now and I will always love it and get captivated by the characters, it will always be my escape and I don't think that's a bad place to be.
Tash.
